Thought for Today…
Why do we worry when God is…
Omniscient, He is all-knowing. He knows everything before it happens. God is aware of the past, present, and future. Psalm 147:5 tells us that His understanding is infinite. Psalm 139:4 says that before we speak a word, it is already known by God. Psalm 44:21 tells us He knows the very secrets of our hearts.
Omnipresent, He is everywhere. He is the very essence of His creation. In Jeremiah 23;24 God tells us He fills heaven and earth. Psalm 139:7-10 says that no matter where we go we cannot escape from God’s presence.
Omnipotent, He is all-powerful. He has supreme power over all things with no limitations. Colossians 1:6 tells us that In His power all things were created in heaven and on earth. Hebrews 1;3a says that He upholds the universe by the word of His power.
In our fleshly minds, worry seems to be so much of our makeup. When we worry we feel like we are in control of situations or over people. In reality, we do not have control over anything. The world tells us we need control which then causes us to worry, so we stay on a vicious cycle. When I get caught up in this cycle of insanity I have to stop, take a step back, remind myself Who is in control, God. Then I ask forgiveness because worry is a sin. When we worry we take our eyes off of the Lord and fix them on the storm around us. When we see the sunrise every morning and set every night, the tides ebb and flow, a bird fly, a baby's first cry, or the death of a godly person, we see God’s hand of control. Our control is chaotic, His is peaceful and in order. When we relinquish control, place it before the Lord, we then see His love and care that no matter what situation comes, He alone will walk us through. When God started teaching me to stop ‘white knuckling’ life, what peace in Him I found. We need to let God be God in all. My favorite saying is, “God is, and all is well.”
In Christ,
