Thought for Today…
For all of us that have wandered and returned to Christ
Luke 15: 17-18… But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! (18) I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. (NKJV)
In the church we attend, we sing hymns. Those beautiful precious anointed hymns of old. I love the old hymns. One Sunday we sang a hymn that absolutely could have been written for me. Have you ever heard a song that was meant just for you and your circumstance, or so it seemed? As we joined voices and sang, I felt that I was standing before God’s Throne and singing this as praise to Him. I want to share this hymn with you, We have all at some point been ‘the Prodigal’, I pray it blesses you!
Lord, I’m Coming Home…
I’ve wandered far away from God. Now I’m coming home, The paths of sin too long I’ve trod, Lord I’m coming home. I’ve wasted many precious years, Now I’m coming home. I now repent with bitter tears, Lord I’m coming home. I’m tired of sin and straying Lord, Now I’m coming home. I’ll trust Thy love, believe Thy Word, Lord I’m coming home. My soul is sick, my heart is sore, Now I’m coming home. My strength renew, my hope restore, Lord, I’m coming home.
Many years ago I came out of a very devastating trial. I walked away and lost my way. I wandered for several years, did it my way. I did not think how God was the only one that could heal my hurt. One evening as I drove home from work, I heard God’s call for me to return to Him, my first Love, whom I should have never left. The way I felt after is echoed in every word of this hymn. So, I praise the Lord for this hymn, and that He will leave the 99 to bring His child home.
In Christ,
