A new beginning

Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world!

40 Day 11 A judgment day comes to each and everyone of us. A favorable one comes to those who keep the commandments of God as noted in Deuteronomy 30:19,  “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”

Number 11 seems to relate to judgment. There were 11 rulers in the Bible who were judged for rejecting the truth, namely Pharaoh, Balak, Jeroboam, Ahab, Naaman, Asa, Joash, Uzziah, Jehoiakim, Zedekiah and Herod. Kings Zedekiah, Jehoiakim, and Pharaoh were judged on their 11th year reign (Jeremiah 52:1-5; 2 Chronicles 36: 5-7; Ezekiel 30: 20-23). Tyrus, town on the Mediterranean coast of southern Lebanon was also judged on the 11th year (Ezekiel 26: 1-7).

I know this happened a long time ago, but let’s look at more recent events. There seems to be a connection between the number 11 and attacks by Islamic terrorists. The attack at the Olympics in 1972 killed 11 Israeli athletes. The train bombing in Madrid by terrorists happened on March 11, 2004. The Mumbai India train bombing occurred in July 11, 2006 in which the bombs went off within an 11-minute period. The Islamic attack in New York on Sept 11, 2001 demolished the twin towers which visibly resembled the number 11. The first airplane was American Airline’s Flight 11 which had 92 people on board (9+2 = 11). The other plane had 65 people (6+5 = 11). Incidentally, New York was the 11th state added to the Union.

If the terrorists are not using number 11, is it safe to say that God is allowing this number to appear time after time to reveal that the true meaning of this barbaric wickedness is judgment?

From the biblical incidents and the more recent ones mentioned, the number 11 seems to have a spiritual connotation. Jesus said in Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister and mother. In John 14:15, Jesus also said, “if you love me, keep my commandments. God’s will is clear. As an adopted  brother/sister of Christ,  there is no need to fear the judgment of the number 11. Instead, a glorious celebration is in order, for God is faithfully protecting His people, giving them knowledge and timely updates of what is to come. Let us wait for the blowing of the trumpet of God. Be blessed of the Lord.

February Message: "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put trust in man." Psalm 118:8

You Just Have to Push!

A man was sleeping one night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light, and God appeared. The Lord told the man he had work for him to do, and showed him a large rock in front of his cabin. The Lord explained that the man was to Push against the rock with all his might...

So, this the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sunup to sundown, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock, pushing with all his might!

Each night the man returned to his cabin sore and worn out, Feeling that his whole day had been spent in vain. Since the man was showing discouragement, the Adversary (satan) decided to enter the picture by placing thoughts into the weary mind: (He will do it every time)!

"You have been pushing against that rock for a long time and it hasn't moved." Thus, he gave the man the impression that the task was impossible and that he was a failure. These thoughts discouraged and disheartened the man.

Satan said, "Why kill yourself over this? Just put in your time, giving just the minimum effort; and that will be good enough." That's what the weary man planned to do, but decided to make it a matter of

Prayer first and to take his troubled thoughts to The Lord.

"Lord," he said, "I have labored long and hard in Your Service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even budged that rock by half a millimeter.

What is wrong? Why am I failing?"

The Lord responded compassionately, "My friend, when I asked you to serve Me and you accepted, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all of your strength, which you have done. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. Your only task was to push. And now you come to Me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed.

"But, is that really so? Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back shiny and brown; your hands are calloused from constant pressure, your legs have become massive and hard.

"Through opposition you have grown much, and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have. True, you haven't moved the rock. But your calling was to be obedient and to push and to exercise your faith and trust in My Wisdom. That you have done. Now I, my friend, will move the rock."

At times, when we hear a word from God, we tend to use our own intellect to decipher what He Wants, when actually what God wants is just simple obedience and faith in Him.

By all means, exercise the faith that moves mountains, but know that It is still God Who moves The Mountains.

March Message:

Love your neighbor? 1 Corinthians 12: 20-27

But now are they many members, yet but one body. And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the care one for another. And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now, ye are the body of Chist, and members in particular.

Your body is a type of city with different agencies wherein you have the following functioning agencies to name a few (an expandable outlook):

1. Sewer system – your bowels, bladder and skin

2. Electricity – your nervous system and electrical impulses

3. Banking – your stomach

4. City Hall – your intellect or mind

5. School or library – your brain and heart

If the sewer system broke down in your city, you will have to suffer the consequences. The other agencies are not going to make up for the failure of the sewer. However, God created our bodies in such a perfect way that when one part gives up, another part will take over the job until help arrives to bring the that part back to health. Let us say the heart begins to fail, the brain and lungs will diligently work and send SOS messages to the rest of the body to help the heart. The body will feel and know that something is wrong. It is now up to the person to act upon this internal message which is coming from God. Are you able to hear God’s personal messages, which sometimes need an SOS attention.

In extreme cases, when a person becomes blind, that person will have the potential to be 200% sensitive in other senses such as hearing, touch, taste, or smell to make up for the loss. This grace of God is His extended hand to bring that person searching for the real SOURCE, none other than GOD.

Bible Study

Mt 1:17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Mt 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on the wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Mt 1:25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
Matthew chapter 1 is about the genealogy and birth of Christ. Ancestral facts prove the family line which is so important for a Jewish audience. This record proves that Jesus was a descendant of Abraham to show that Jesus is the true Messiah. This also proves that Jesus was born of a virgin as prophesied in the Old Testament. Matthew chapter 2 is about the Magis’ visit, the flight to Egypt and the return to Nazareth.
Just as Christ loves His Church, the husband also is expected to love his wife the same way, ready to die for her. The strength of what we believe is measured by how much we are willing to suffer for those beliefs. Joseph was a man with strong beliefs. He was prepared to do what was right, despite the pain he knew it would cause. Also, Joseph not only tried to do what was right, but tried to do it in the right way. He respected the need of a virgin’s birth of the Lord Jesus, so he waited until Mary had brought forth her firstborn son before he knew her (verse 25). The word knew in the Bible has a sexual context which gives rise to lines in Genesis chapter 4 like “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived (verse1); And Cain knew his wife and she conceived (verse 17); And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son (verse 25).

The Bible tells us of our heritage in Christ:

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

Romans 8:14, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

Enhancing your personal relationship with God

How did Satan’s prideful rebellion and subsequent fall impact humankind’s first sin? Look at some passages in Proverbs that talk about the sin of pride and what effect it produces.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly (humble) is wisdom.

Proverbs 18:12 Before destruction the heart of a man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

Look at Romans:

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.

Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

While the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden is truly the first human sin, it is not the first recorded sin in Scripture. Christians know that the serpent tempted Eve, but often forget that the devil’s fall from grace was what set the stage for man’s ultimate fall.

The sin of rebellion (disobedience) of Adam and Eve caused the whole humanity to be born in sin as confirmed in Romans 5:12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the word, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” The root cause of rebellion however is hidden in pride. Let’s examine this. Why does man suppress the truth? Why is he ungrateful? Why is his imagination vain and his heart full of pride?  Man wants to be the sole decision maker and sole authority in his life, proud of his accomplishments, successes, knowledge, prestige and position in life, failing to acknowledge the role of God in his life, forgetting to thank Him for every minute detail of God’s provision, protection and promotion that occurred in his life. He professes that God is God, but fails to commit allegiance to his Maker. Instead, he attempts to come up with some natural explanation for everything he sees around him, he ignores his conscience, he forgets past history that clearly shows divine intervention, he rationalizes away God and makes god of himself. Take note that the “he” I am referring to includes the “she” who is subject to the “he” according to Genesis 3:16 “…he shall rule over thee.”  Is not this what is happening today? Now we have evolution, moral relativism, humanism, revisionist history, presenting evil as good, protecting evil acts with man-made laws and all other attempts to willfully hold God’s revealed truth at arms’ length. Truly our sinful human pride knows no bounds! If we truly dig deeper, we can see that pride is the fountainhead of all other sins. Take anger, hatred, jealousy, ingratitude to name a few. They all originate from pride. Anger, hatred, jealousy, and lack of gratitude all stem from pride. Isn’t it true that when something we wanted to happen did not happen, we feel offended, our pride is wounded, and our emotions are stirred to cause us to act sinfully. Take another sin in 1 Timothy 6:10,  the love of money is the root (cause) of all evil. Covetous man (Ephesians 5:5) who is an idolater is a sinner because he’s creating his own god by being too proud and stubborn to truly worship the One and True God!

Compare your life to the ultimate end of Satan’s rebellion and pride.

Ezekiel 28:14–15
You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you.

What was the first sin? We learn about it and Satan’s fall from Isaiah 14:12–15:

How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.

The one message today that will enhance the seeker’s relationship with God is to let God the Holy Spirit help you in letting go of pride, submitting your will to His will as Jesus did and then enjoy God's bountiful benefits to the obedient.
